More information
Start by rinsing 1 cup of rice in a fine mesh strainer until the water runs clear. This step is important as it removes excess starch and ensures that the rice will be light and fluffy once cooked. Next, bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the rinsed rice, stir once, and reduce the heat to low. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until all of the water has been absorbed. Once the rice is done, remove it from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Once the rice is done, fluff it with a fork and add the garlic butter, salt, and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined.
